Communauté de communes Océan - Marais de Monts
“Le Daviaud”, the Marais Vendéen Ecomuseum is a public entity managed by the Association of the Océan-Marais de Monts municipalities. It is authorised by the Museum of France and belongs to the French Federation of Ecomuseums and Society museums.
Its purpose is to study, preserve and optimize natural and human heritage, material and intangible heritage of the Bretona marshes in La Vendée. The three main themes of the ecomuseum are: natural heritage (fauna and flora); the evolution ways of life from the 19th century until today and economic activities (mainly agriculture and salt production: there is still an active salt working site in the enclave).
The studies undertaken by the ecomuseum are shown through permanent and temporary exhibitions, educational workshops, guided tours, publications, events, participation in outside events
The ecomuseum attracts 30 000 visitors per year, half of whom are from schools.
