Universidade de Aveiro
The University of Aveiro is a public foundation operating under private law whose mission is the operation and development of graduate and postgraduate training, research and cooperation with society. Founded in 1973, today it has approximately 13400 students, an academic staff of 1000 people and around 500 non-academic staff. It participates with 15 research unitsand four partner laboratories:
- CICECO - Center for Research in Ceramic Materials and Composites;
- Institute of Telecommunications - Aveiro - IT Aveiro;
- I3N - Nanostructures Institute, Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication
- CESAM - Center for Environmental and Sea Studies.
The University of Aveiro is a member of the European Consortium for Innovative Universities and was one of the pioneer institutions to introduce the ECTS Label in 2004.
Recently, the University has signed an agreement with Carnegie Mellon University for the development of post-graduate programmes in ICT.
