The Provincial Government of Alava (DFA) is responsible for the Management and Administration of the Territorial Heritage of Alava.  The province is ruled by the Basque Autonomous Community and has its own budget to develop its activities (for 2009 it has more than 2500 million Euros). Among the powers assigned to it by law are fiscal charges, administration and collection, preservation and promotion of heritage, environmental management, tourism promotion, regional and economic development and the management of archives and museums.
